As Baksaş Sigorta, we were pleased to host the senior executives of MAPFRE Sigorta AŞ, one of the sector’s most established and leading organizations, at our headquarters. We held a highly productive evaluation meeting with the participation of Deputy General Manager Mr. Yıldırım Türe, Sales Director Mr. Yılmaz Ari, Aegean Regional Manager Ms. Miray Ersoy, and Sales Manager Ms. Bilge Gün Kolaç. During the meeting, we had the opportunity to examine the evolving dynamics of the insurance sector, current market trends, and forward-looking strategic insights through a comprehensive and multi-layered perspective. We also discussed in depth several structural topics that hold critical importance for the industry.

We emphasized that managing operational risks solely through policy-based protection is no longer sufficient; instead, the sector now requires a multi-layered risk management approach that integrates technological infrastructure, early warning mechanisms, and field safety practices.  In light of the tightening global reinsurance capacity and uncertainties in the world economy, we assessed how the resilience of the Turkish insurance market is being closely monitored on an international scale. We further observed that recent large-scale natural disasters and economic volatility have led to more selective, data-driven, and highly segmented risk acceptance criteria, prompting a recalibration of the sector’s overall risk appetite.

The meeting highlighted the industry-wide shift away from traditional business models toward modern risk management practices supported by advanced analytics, proactive risk forecasting, and comprehensive assessment processes. Additionally, it was noted that today’s policyholders now expect more than simply holding an insurance policy; they seek continuous risk management support, detailed analysis, and consultancy-oriented service models.
